Context:
This week was the second exciting week or Practical work! This week by improving the digital image of Youths Choice and then communicate that to our new social media team!
Research:
For this project I completed a lot of research in the early stages of this project in terms of competitors and what they are doing on their social media. What’s effective and working, and how we can try to replicate that internally for us. There were some main points that came out of that research. As an area of improvement for the Digital image of Youths Choice the main point was; Post Consistency, making sure our brand looks uniform across all platforms and styles. I conducted research into what other brands do on their platforms, and I got these results of what makes a great digital image. Consistent brand colours, using the brand font, showing the brands logo, making sure the text contrasts with background colours and making featured people or objects stick out. I moved this research into my decision-making for the new Post Templates
Problem-Solving:
An issue I didn’t document during the process was that my Photoshop kept freezing when I left the window, this started to happen to other apps on my computer and this make it difficult for me to look and my research and complete the project. As a short-term solution I used my phone with my website up to look at the research I had done so I could keep on the same window. After I had finished my work and saved I restarted my computer and the issue seemed to go away
Planning & Production:
Creating a draft post to go to a focus group was really important for this project. Because social media is something that is very public-facing and the public decides what’s good and what isn’t. I had a focus group of 4 different people from a variety of genders, ethnicities, and social circles this helped to create a round picture of the wider Youths Choice target audience and what their views on the new posts would be
Practical Skills:
I created a complete overhaul of our feeds on 3 of our major platforms. YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. You can see the difference it made! The focus group was really happy with a few bits of the feedback mentioned. For step by steps on how I created this head over to my Practical Skills page where this is outlined!

Evaluation:
This for me felt like another very productive week! To be able to churn out this many new thumbnails, posts and more was a real challenge and a testament to the dedication and hours I spent creating the templates and rolling it out. As well as this rolling the template out to the new social team with a meeting and a ‘how to’ session as well as backing this up with strong market research was amazing!
