For the entries into the awards, I came across four main issues. The first issue that I had to overcome was in the research stage of my FMP. I had to actually decide what to enter for the Shine awards. Below I’m going to list the awards I had particular problems with, the options I had and the research I completed to come up with the best option
Best Audio – Youths Choice on Air Branding
For this award I had quite a few options to enter, this included:
- The Loop News (On Air)
- An Audio Documentary
- MyBnk Money Podcast
- Youths Choice on Air Branding
I ended up deciding on entering Youths Choice’s on Air Branding for the award since a student was planning on doing this for their FMP, this allowed me to work with this student to shape an award-winning on-air station sound to impress the judges. I also made use of our class teacher who agreed that Youths Choice’s branding would be a great entry for this award.
Best Overall Content – Youths Choice / The Loop TikTok and YouTube
For this award, I had the option of including just Youths Choice, just The Loop, both, or entering a specific series on our channel. Because the awards name was best overall content I decided why not showcase everything it is that we do. I identified this would be more work since the thumbnails on youtube and the consistency of the tiktoks needed a bit of work but I decided this would be worth it!
Best Piece on a Designated Topic – Youths Choice, County Lines
For this entry, I decided to utilize a focus group. I gave them the options of Historical LGBTQ+ figures, Living in the UK and County Lines.
The focus group was given the opportunity to watch all the videos in full. Most people instantly said the County lines video. This was because they said the use of interviews with people in the know such as the police and the ex-drug dealer. They also said that this was a topic that was bound to hit the judges hard by getting first-hand accounts. This is then what we moved forward with
