In my research and problem solving I identified 3 main areas of improvement for improving the On-Air image of Youths Choice these were; Choosing around 4-6 consistent voiceover people who don’t have shows to do our voice-over work. Creating a new Sonic Logo for Youths Choice, that will involve outside support and input. The specific use of ‘Short and Long’ voices for production, this would play to the voiceover artists’ strengths.
In the first part of my planning, I focused directly on choosing our Voice Over artists. Luckily at a media school, we have loads of people who have great voices, I started by doing a demo with around 30 students! This was a basic script

Unsuccessful Voices

Successful Voices

How did we decide?
To decide on our voiceover artists I worked very closely with our new Head of Production & Imaging, Sam. He sat in all of the recording sessions with me directing how people should say different words to help make the best out of their voices. This gave us a good insight into what voices worked best for different uses. After all the sessions had been completed we sat down listening to each person again individually but also seeing how their voices work next to others and whittled down the artists into a shortlist of 8 people. 4 would be our main station voices and 4 to be backups as well as for specific production promoting events.
Letting our Voiceover artists the results!
