Context:
This week I worked on my problem-solving, particularly is solving issues that will enable me to move forward into planning & production and eventually into my practical skills. I had to solve 4 main problems before moving forward. I detail this under problem-solving and further down in this post under practical skills.
Research:
For my research this week I first had to work out what my main problems would be moving into planning and production. I ended up with my problems being how I actually action my research as well as an extra part around doing an FMP while working and relying on other people for results. I spent quite a bit of time this week working with focus groups to decide on what content we should be entering for the awards
Problem-Solving, Planning & Production & Practical Skills:
Clearly, this week was my ‘problem solving’ week so I could go on forever here so I’ll try and keep it brief, the main problems I found were:
- What to enter for the awards
For this section, I listed all the awards I wanted to enter and listed the possible options. I worked closely with the radio station management as well as focus groups to decide what entry we should make for each award
- How to Improve the On-Air Image of Youths Choice
As part of my problem solving I had to mainly work out the ‘what’ and the ‘who’ I decided on updating all station production with a complete on-air rebrand and listed what this would include on the page. I worked out the who by choosing who would create this production and also who would voice the production.
- How to Improve the Digital Image of Youths Choice
Here I decided on a new look for the digital image and decided on the scope of the project. This would include redoing around 20 thumbnails for YouTube videos currently released as well as going forward on all platforms
- Working with other students and Setting Deadlines
Working with other students on a project like this brings risks that they aren’t able to complete to projects before a set date. Unfortunately, due to the scope of this project and the variety of awards being entered, I do need to work and rely on other students to complete this. My plan is to make sure that the students I include to do projects are reliable and I’ve worked with them before. I’ll also set realistic deadlines a week or two before I need the finished pieces. This will allow me to go back and ask for revisions or give extensions where needed.
Evaluation
This week I think I’ve made a significant dent in my project and I’m very on track for my own deadlines and think I’ll be able to have my easter holidays away from the project if I continue at this rate. With problem solving as well I acknowlege that I’ll be revisitng and possibly adding more pages to that heading in the future as problems come up. I’ll also list them in my weekly reflections accuratly as to match what issues i’ve had each week
