During this project, I created a Youths Choice promo about the New Normal as a result of COVID 19. I think that my Pomo was effective and drove people to look more at the Youths Choice social media accounts. he effects used makes sure that the listener isn’t getting bored listening to it. I was able to understand the idea of creating an engaging and insightful promo / on air content really well because I have edited quite a few in the past for Youths Choice as well as other radio stations or just for companies that wanted to promo their work through audio via radio adverts.
In addition, my promo is 40 seconds long, this is a good mix of the engagement of a 30 second promo with the informativeness of a 60 second one. Also, with the way that promos and adverts are scheduled on a station it’s very important that they are an even length. Something I would change for next time is adding better voice effects to better enhance the voice of whichever VO artist I am using.
In terms of my peer assessment, I think that they pointed out small mistakes and errors that I had already spotted and noted down to fix. This includes things like small amounts of peaking and music being too loud for the VO at particular times. This however was very useful as it gave me a fresh set of ears to listen over it, and also the opportunity for that person to say that they didn’t like for example the SFX used at the beginning, this then would allow me the time to look back and use different SFX that they think would make people listen.
In conclusion, I think I responded to the brief well as everything that was asked of the promo was included, there is definitely improvements that I would look at making to it as I have described above. The only thing with doing a project like this is that I haven’t got any feedback from my client, this is normally the most valuable feedback for me as at the end of the day they know the audience the best. So as a result of that I haven’t been able to improve my work to better fit the style and audience that they possibly were aiming for but had this been a real project these things would have been taken into account.
